It must have been an Apple engineer that gave it 1 star…..
I have been looking for a working search engine since Apple decided that looking for actual files on a server was no longer important (post 10.4.8).
This App does EVERYTHING you want it to. It searches my 3tb Network server (and the 5 other shared computer hard drives on the network if I choose to do so) in an instant, it allows you to search a specific hard drive and narrow the search if it finds too many files for you to sort through.
For the life of me I don’t know why Apple has not built this simple feature into their operating system. Then again, the real question would be why did they remove it in the first place? It was there in the beginning.
Anyhow. Good for you. You have filled a HUGE void in the Mac operating system. I hope they never put back a proper search engine so you can all get rich.
Everyone……. pay the 8 dollars. Its worth every penny
Developers…… Please do not try and improve your software. All you can possibly do it break it. It is perfect just the way it is.
(Well, being able to set a particular hard drive as the default searched drive would be nice. But don’t do that if you feel the need to change ANYTHING else while your in there).
PS. I just read the review that gave it one star. This software will search multiple hard drives simultaneously. It may not search only a specific folder in a hard drive, but it searches so quickly, there is no need to focus on a single folder within a hard drive. Also, Assuming that he is correct in that it will not look inside a compressed file. I would suggest that if you are archiving files, you employ an archiving software like retrospect rather than compressing groups of files into random compressed archives.
