It works. Apple, please buy this

This is something Apple should adopt. It works.

Huh, So Slow?

Downloaded and kicked off a simple search across 9 volumes (El Cap). It cranked away searching for several minutes until I quit it. Spotlight would have found the file instantly. I wanted a search utility that allowed me to “OR” search terms rather than “ANDing” search terms like finder does. But even if I could get this utility to do that, it is incredibly slow and useless for me. Not sure why my experience with very slow speed is so much different that other reviewers.

Finf any file

Quick and efficent

What a great app!

Apple should learn a thing or two from this “finder”! Use it almost every day.

Essential search utility

Find Any File has saved my bacon many times. “I’m sure I downloaded that file!” After trying a few Spotlight searches, I will turn to this app. If it is *Anywhere* on all my mounted drives it will find my file for me. If Find Any File does NOT find my file it means I don’t have the file/folder, or I’ve not thought of the right search.

Does what Spotlight should

I use this utility on a regular basis. There was a similar function in the Finder years ago and for the life of me I cannot figure out why Apple removed it. Whether finding an old document, trouble shooting a problem, or trying to remove all of an application, this utility is indispensable. One of its best features (that Spotlight does not do) is show one the path to the file. I could go on and on but I’ll be brief. If you do not own this utility, buy it. You’ll be happy you did.

Use this if actually want to find your files

Yes, spotlight is great and everything, but it’s not the best tool in world at finding specific files. I use spotlight every day, but I also use this regularly. Every week. It literally finds things that spotlight simply won’t show you. UI is nothing to write home about, but who cares? It’s a work tool, and it delivers every time.

Best Search App

This is, by far, the best file search utility I have ever used. It is flexible, works quickly, and gives very accurate results. The ability to clearly display the enclosing sub-folder structures regardless of how far down the files are nested works flawlessly. If it could also search for file contents in addition to file names, I would give it six stars. Since it can’t, I’ll just give it five!

My highest rating!

This is a well designed program. It is simple, fast and functions better than one would expect. It effectively finds any file in any directory on your hard drive. It allows several ways to search. For example, the exact file name or just a few words of the file’s title. When found, you get a list of results. What I like best about this program is that one can open the file right from the “Find Any File” window. My compliments to the programmer. He (her) put in the extra work to make this program intuitive and functional. As a former programmer, I know how easy it is to take shortcuts and create a mediocre program. But this one has the stamp of a programmer who takes pride in his (her) work.

One of my essentials

A great example of an app that does one thing and does it very well. Starting with a vague memory that there is a file somewhere with a name something like ???, this app will track it down for you. And if the search produces an over abundance of matches, the two result display modes help to focus in on the intended find quickly. I wouldn’t be without this app

I love this product.

Great product!

Find Anything!

Easy to use. Can’t live without it.

Extremely helpful!

This works perfectly and is extremely helpful for removing extra files that remain on my computer after performing a typical uninstall. No more flags that a new program can’t install because of conflicts with another that I thought had been uninstalled completely. Thanks “Find Any File”!

Find Any File

Find Any File goes much deeper than Apple Cmd-F. Not sure why it takes 5-10 sec. to open but maybe it’s already identifying file names, who knows. Definitely not a deal breaker. Glad I bought this app.

Adds all the functions missing in spotlight

If you want to actually find any file on your computer, this is the app for you! It’s the cure for the maddening inability to find files using spotlight. It works exactly as advertised.

Best Find App Ever!

What more can be said. Great, lightweight, flexible. Finds any file, including invisible & files in app packages. Thats thorough! JUST BUY IT! :)

Fantastic App

This app does exactly what it says. It makes finding lost files a minor exercise. Of course the more you know abour the file (date added, date created, etc. or a rnge of days, etc. ) makes it easier, but just the name or a part of the name enables a find. One can also serch hidden system files by selecting that option. Use caution when accessing a system file however.

No fluff, just easy to use hard core tools.

The first time I used this was after it was released — I remember thinking at the time “what can this do that I need that I can’t do in the unix shell?”. WOW! Was I blown away — I had never had used a search tool before that allowed you to strip away some of the stuff that made apple’s HIG so wonderful. The problem was that there were numerous files ‘bundled’ together into a single application so the user didn’t see a huge mess. Bundling it all together in a faux folder made sure everything stayed together and the Developer could easily get to those pieces they needed. This allows you to quickly find & quickly look at all the little pieces that make the bigger pictures. The hierarchical view lets you look at file (reassure) where it is and immediately find the file .he bottom line is that it is a must have tool and it is worth much twice the price. What are you waiting for — buy it!

Used it for Years

I’ve used this program for years and it never fails to find a missing file for me. It will also find hidden files which are lifesaver when you are using programs running under Wine. Great program, worth every cent.

Forget Finder Search

At least half the time I try to find a file with Finder, I end up using Find Any File. It’s easy, intuitive, and much more powerful.
