Great app: simple and powerful!

Great app: simple and powerful! • Provides a nice complement to the default Finder search • Is fast • Queries based on multiple conditions • Features QuickView • Asks for a password protection for extended search • Finds hidden files • Digs into .app packages

Simple and effective

This app is very easy to use, and, generally is very fast. I use it to search through terrabyte hard drives and if your search is very specific you have your answer in seconds. If you are too vague there can be hundreds, perhaps even thousands of machinf files, in which you will be waiting for some time. However, this is my preferred app for finding stuff on my system. I highly recommend it.

Excellent Application

I use it for years. Very useful.

If you erase some files with the keys [cmd] + [erase] the files wont disappear

On the whole a really nice programm but there is an issue which is quite annoying. So if you try to erase them another time the finder will pop-up and says that it is note possible to erase them. Additionaly the program freezes and must be killed. Would be nice if you could fix this. Thanks.

Not working properly

I bought this to search and find files on my NAS and it always crashes when doing this. Beside that it`s very slow until it crashes so even if it would work I would find the file searching by my self faster than by this app. 5,99 are way too much for app that doesn`t work for me. I`m embarrassed.

Excellent!

This app is such a great addition to Spotlight. It helped me find heavyweight videos and other stuff that filled up my hard drive. Recommended!

Fantastic Application

This application is enabling me to find files on my Mac. Unlike Spotlight which only shows me the files Apple wants me to see. Find Any File should come standard with OS X. But then again, this would prevent Apple from controlling what the user can see ;-)

Find any file

Very effective

Very effective

Very nice fundamental file search utility

Unlike the built-in Mac file search features, the way this utility searches for files (by searching the disk directly), and the intuitive and powerful search criteria window, makes searching for files quite fool-proof and thorough. The two results display styles work nice for different situations. It works extremely fast on local disks, and has reasonable speed on remote/network drives. Along with typical file search tasks, I particularly like this program when Im deleting an application from my system - it allows me to search for, find, delete all the bits and pieces typically left behind when an application is deleted (like preference files and many more - you might be surprised at how much clutter is left behind) - the built-in Mac search utilities dont work well or thoroughly for things like that. Great app - nice, clean, fast, reliable.

Not impressed

I wanted a simple Finder replacement - but something that gave me a complete view of my HFS+ filesystem. I found trying to achieve (what was in my mind a simple task) to be unintuitive and awkward. The app was painfully slow when trying to view all files on my volume; the program thrashed my drive for over 5 minutes until I killed the process. Ill stick to the CLI until I find something better.

Useful little tool

I like this tool, perhaps Apple should include the ability to find files that are normally not visible in Spotlight, but this helps in the meantime. Glad to support it. Id like to see the ability to search by "Type" like "Applications", "Documents", etc. Ill email the developer directly as they cannot respond here I know.

Useful!

Very useful, especially for locations (like USB hard drives) that Spotlight doesnt deal with. Ive been using it for the past couple of days to find types of files on my graphics drive, and its been great - reasonably fast at finding the files, and theyre right above that the interface is both simple and useful. The only thing I might suggest is a differentiation between capitals and lowercase letters (caused more files to appear than were really being looked for). Other than that, I give it a definite thumbs up!

A waste of $3

Supposed to search network drives. When choosing to search network, only searches local hard drive When choosing to search within a folder on a network, only searches local hard drive Totally useless for searching networked folders… even more stupid becaue it keeps finding local matches, and never selected ones.

Finally no more linux terminal

Finally I don’t have to start terminal and fiddle with command lines in linux in order to find *ANY* file in os x mavericks. Way faster and easier with this app.

Awesome!

Long story short, I replaced the optical drive on my MacBook Pro with an SSD so now I have to drives. I keep my OS, home folder and apps on my SSD and all my music on the original HDD (I use my laptop for DJing). I won’t go into detail but basically the dual drive setup meant that moving a file from the HDD to the Trash would take forever and I’d get the “preparing to move to trash pop-window for like 1 minute and the CPU would go into the red because Spotlight doesn’t handle re-indexing outside of the boot drive very well. The only option to prevent this hang was to tell Spotlight to ignore the HDD where all my music was stored, but unfortunately that also meant I was unable to search for music files in Spotlight. Find Any File is the perfect solution for my situation - I can now find the files on my HDD and still have Spotlight ignore my HDD and all the CPU hogging problems associated with it! By the way, I think I read something somewhere about Find Any File “finding files pretty fast” which made me think that was just another way of saying “kinda slow”, but I find it’s super fast (on my system at least). This app is well worth the $7.99 I paid for it :)

Can not find file by date

I wanted to find files by date range but it does not have that option. Not for me or any one who is looking for advanced search options.

HOME USER

Great program, I had some audio stuff left over that was causing me no end of GRIEF. I ran this program, and POOF, the remnants of a previous audio program were gone and my iMac Audio returned to the way it was….worth every cent for sure! VS

Extremely Handy

Great power users tool. Of course you could do it all in the terminal, but sometimes its nice to see your found files in a hierarchy without any fuss or muss. I use this app all the time and have found it indespensible especially when poking around hidden files and unix programs. Buy it.

Find Any File 1.8.9

It does what it says it will do and does it very well.
