Find Any File (FAF) App Reviews

Every single time I try to search for something on Finder I keep getting tons of seemingly unrelated results. I’m sure there’s a reason behind it and I’m sure there’s some documentation somewhere explaining why… I don’t care, it’s just a simple search box. If the user has to go and look for documentation the GUI designer must be fired. In any event, Find Any File saves the day. And guess what, you will be able to figure it out right away.

It’s what spotlight should be. Finds any file quickly anywhere on my mac.

It functions differently and provides better results for the types of searches I typically do. The hierarchal display of results is very helpful. Let’s you see right where the items are located. Adding additional search criteria is straightforward. The app is easy to understand. Works fast. Unobtrusive, but right there when you need it. If only there was a Google version with a similar depth of qualifiers to eliminate all the junk found–that would be doing mankind a great service!

Great alternative to spotlight.

I do searches on non-Mac servers, and it really helps. It also helps with searches on Mac, as sometimes the Finder search doesn’t return everything that I expect, Find Any File does.

Works as advertised - would have been nice to have something this efficient embedded in OS X…just saying.

Ive found files from 20yrs ago!

Ive used Thomass app since it was by donation. Its still worth the price $8 on App Store. Thomas supports this very well with regular updates (now 1.83), has two ways to see your findings, searches by name and other file characteristics. Finds folders both visible and hidden quickly and ACCURATELY that spotlight ofter misses. Tells you where they are in both a flat, finder-like display and a folder heiarchic one. You now can perform some typical operations to the file. All very smooth. A very nice little utility. And it keeps getting better!

I used to use Windows for many years, have come over to the Mac some years ago. I dont know what is so hard about search, but Windows lost its simple and powerful search and I am not sure Mac ever had it (simple? yes. powerful? not unless you are lucky) I recently purchased and installed Find Any File because I needed to search a network drive for files of a certain type with a particular word in the name. Super simple and very efficient - I am adding Find Any File to my must-have Mac tools list!!

Works well, quick searches, versatile and simple to use.
