Find Any File (FAF) App Reviews

131 Customer Reviews:

Indespensible for finding those files you cant see

End-users beware, though, you might delete a file which could (theoretically) require an OS re-install. Caveat emptor.

The quickest way to find your files.

I use it all the time. Finder is just too slow and limited.

Title says it all. This is a must have utility. So much easier to use than spotlight which almost never brings up useful information. I’m buying four more copies so everyone at work can have this program on their mac.

Terrible interface. Cant select multiple directories to search. Doesnt search compressed files... so pretty much worthless for many of my needs, as I back up files and folders by compressing them. Also note, the images of the app provided here to the app store dont match at all what youre buying.

Why can’t everything work this well

Forget Spotlight or the Find function in the “Finder”. This is so much faster, easier, and more versatile to find files.

Does the job well.

Great little program when I don’t want to open a shell and try and remember the syntax for find/xargs/exec!

Since Apple continues to dumb down the UI, utilities like this are necessary. This one fills a need to find all files perfectly. Awsome response from the developer as well.

It’s fast and it dives deep into the corners and comes back with a wonderfully efficient navigation process to further refine or retrieve. It’s GREAT!!

Spent an hour on the phone with Apple support trying to find lost photos. This app found something ike 20x more .jpgs than anything the Apple staffer advised.

I have been looking for a working search engine since Apple decided that looking for actual files on a server was no longer important (post 10.4.8). This App does EVERYTHING you want it to. It searches my 3tb Network server (and the 5 other shared computer hard drives on the network if I choose to do so) in an instant, it allows you to search a specific hard drive and narrow the search if it finds too many files for you to sort through. For the life of me I don’t know why Apple has not built this simple feature into their operating system. Then again, the real question would be why did they remove it in the first place? It was there in the beginning. Anyhow. Good for you. You have filled a HUGE void in the Mac operating system. I hope they never put back a proper search engine so you can all get rich. Everyone……. pay the 8 dollars. Its worth every penny Developers…… Please do not try and improve your software. All you can possibly do it break it. It is perfect just the way it is. (Well, being able to set a particular hard drive as the default searched drive would be nice. But don’t do that if you feel the need to change ANYTHING else while your in there). PS. I just read the review that gave it one star. This software will search multiple hard drives simultaneously. It may not search only a specific folder in a hard drive, but it searches so quickly, there is no need to focus on a single folder within a hard drive. Also, Assuming that he is correct in that it will not look inside a compressed file. I would suggest that if you are archiving files, you employ an archiving software like retrospect rather than compressing groups of files into random compressed archives.

I can specify as few or as many keywords or criteria as I want to, then iIt scans the hard disk very quickly. Much faster than some of the competition.

Indispensable utility

Searches the entire drive, unlike Spotlight. Search is not instantaneous, but fast enough.

Great Search Application

Great at finding files and folders that Spotlight does not find. Very useful and efficient.

What else is there to say? I use this regularly to search for apps that Im deleting to clear out related cache / preference files and Find Any File works excellently in this regard.

Fast and Accurate

Does what it says it does…and they tell you what Find Any File can do up front. It’s easy to use :)

I use Find Any File almost daily. I really love the ability to save an applet that automatically runs when you start it. I use that to search for items changed “within the last 2 minutes” to look for locations of automatic downloads or behind-the-scenes changes to my system. Gives me immediate and accurate results. MUCH better than Spotlight, since Find Any File does not limit the search to “user accessible” folders.
